What do you like most about Mac GenSx? Incredible operative exposure, collegiality and approachability of staff surgeons and excellent work-life balance within a surgical residency.

Fun Fact: In my spare time, I love to do plane spotting photography.

Career goals: I like everything from MIS to trauma laparotomies. I am still exploring everything that general surgery has to offer.

Fun Fact: I used to Figure Skate and coach, I love true crime documentaries, I am always on the hunt for any French speaking patient!!

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? The balance. This program provides opportunities to explore all pertinent areas of general surgery, offers amazing exposure across clinic, endoscopy, and the operating room, and provides space to pursue research/entrepreneurial activities.

Favourite surgery: Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy
Fun Fact: I'm 5'9", but 6' with hair.

Career Goals: I plan on pursuing fellowship training in the area of colorectal surgery. My career goal is to be an academic colorectal surgeon.

Meghan Bourque

Hometown: Burlington, ON

Med School: University College Cork, Ireland

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? 1. It is a very welcoming, hard-working and skilled community of people that we have the opportunity to train with/under. 2. Although we are one of the largest programs in the country, Mac GenSx is giving small program vibes. 3. The main hospitals that we rotate through are within 10 minutes of each other.

Fun Fact: If I hadn't gone into Medicine, I'd probably be out building/designing homes and coaching a lot of soccer!
