What do you like most about Mac GenSx? We have an excellent program with an incredibly supportive program director and staff who are engaged and dedicated to surgical education.

Fun Fact: I love spending time with my wife and two kids, and kiteboarding or cycling whenever I have the free time.

Isabelle Duchesnay

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? The dedicated staff surgeons and our program director - always willing to teach!

Fun Fact: I have a green thumb.

Career Goals: Interested in community surgery/ACS. Currently undergoing interviews for a staff position / locum.

Rogeh Habashi

2022 Graduate

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? The diverse surgical experience at each of the 3 main adult hospitals.

Fun Fact: To celebrate the end of medical school I rode >700km over 7 days on the alps (France/Switzerland/Italy).

Career Goals: HPB, Advanced Endoscopy.

Kathleen Logie

2022 Graduate

Hometown: Toronto, ON

Med School: University of Calgary

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? My favourite part of this program are the amazing people. Cheesy I know. But the residents, staff, program director and support staff such as physician assistants are what make this program so unique. Working with talented colleagues, many of whom I feel fortunate enough to call friends, makes everything more fun and definitely more tolerable lol.

Fun Fact: Isn’t it funny how whenever you’re asked this question suddenly everything that is fun about you flies out of your head?

Favourite Quote: I genuinely don’t have one, I never have. I do like memes though.

Career Goals: Navy team MIS fellowship at St Joes.

Savannah Silva

2023 Graduate

Med School: McMaster University

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? I'm so glad to be training at McMaster! I'm getting excellent training for a career in general surgery and I really enjoy hanging out with my co-residents. We support each other, work hard, and get to explore the fun parts of Hamilton (and Niagara!) together.

Fun Fact: I love going to the Royal Botanical Garden on post call days/weekends. So many flowers, so much happiness!

Career Goals: Interested in Bariatrics/MIS Fellowship.

Zacharie Cloutier

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? The outstanding culture. Focus on a positive, supportive environment. Going home post call as a junior as an absolute law. The approachability of staff and how friendly they are. The early operative exposure.

Fun Fact: What I consider a fun fact turns out is pretty vanilla but makes me the most happy: I just got married, I have a puppy, and I spend most of my free time making sure my tomatoes stay alive in my backyard. Truly turning into a suburban man, but trust me it’s the best.

What do you like most about Mac GenSx? The number of staff we have who are truly committed to making you an excellent surgeon.

Fun Fact: I spent a summer training seals in Germany and swam with penguins in the Galapagos.
